Specialist note
Ariccia, a small town in the Colli Albani, was visited by travellers on the Grand Tour on their way to Lakes Albano and Nemi. The landmark for which the town was most famous was the church of the Assunta built by Bernini whose dome can be seen in the distance in the present drawing.
