Specialist note

This and the following lot are examples of Saftleven's studies after figures in paintings by other artists. The 'D.T.' may suggest that these figures derive from paintings by David Teniers, although it has not been possible to link them to any particular painting. A very similar sheet of figure studies is in the Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum, Braunschweig (inv. Z. 1703).
