Beatriz Milhazes (Brazilian b. 1960)

Milhazes scatters and fragments our vision, her composititions are there to excite and sometimes to overwhelm us, letting our eye jitter over the surface and enjoy itself free of immediate, short-circuiting narratives and interpretations. The sense of movement in her works gives them a temporal quality that swirls, sways and pirouettes, as if performing a complex dance.
