Specialist note

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial, raised gold hour markers and pulsation scale in 1944 and its subsequent sale on 30 June 1945.

The chronograph wristwatch offered here for sale is an appealing example of Patek Philippe's celebrated reference 1579, distinguished by its attractive and rare pulsation dial combined with the much sought after pink gold case material, all confirmed by the Extract from the Archives.

Interestingly, this watch was purchased at public auction over 15 years ago with a tachometre dial but once it came to light that it was originally fitted with a pulsation dial, its owner went through considerable trouble and cost to sympathetically bring it back to its original scales specifications.

The combination of provenance, case material and the appealing dial render the watch an interesting addition to the collection of exceptional chronograph wristwatches made by the celebrated Genevan manufacture.
