A BRASS AND IVORY SCREW-BARREL MICROSCOPE

Edmund Culpeper was a well-skilled English craftsman, especially known for his achievements in the mathematical and optical fields. After making simple microscopes, he invented the microscopes known as Culpeper-type microscopes sometime between 1725-1730. These tripod-mounted compound microscopes contained major changes and improvements in their mechanical and optical systems.
