Comprising three armchairs, four side chairs and an extending dining table, each chair with pierced back surmounted by carved lizzards above a padded seat covered in green scales-shaped velvet, flanked by confirmingly carved arms, the table branded to the underside H.F. Jansen & Zn Amsterdam/Hofleveranciers

Note du spécialiste

Hendrik Frederik Jansen started his company in Amsterdam in 1840 as an upholsterer. From the 1870's onwards his production enlarged and in 1877 he also became a manufacturer of furniture. At that time the factory was equiped with a steam-engine and employed more than thirty craftsmen. The firm amongst others decorated the Salon of Queen Emma at the Soestdijk Palace and was well known until the 1940's.
