Patek Philippe produced the reference 5040 from 1992 until approximately 2008. The present watch belongs to the second series which went in to production in 1998. The white gold examples of the reference 5040 are considered the rarest to the market.
Reference 5040 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by O. Patrizzi, vol. II, plate 1198, p. 291.
