Diary: 27 April 1974
At fifty, half a century, heavy enough to set me thinking and weighing the events of my life, and actions I have taken.
The progress I have made in cramming my brain with information (a set of beliefs and a body of knowledge) so that my inner life is full of wonder and contemplation, devoid of boredom.
Very early in life, I had an insatiable curiosity in the arts, and every kind of aesthetic aspect, although the pursuit of beauty in a world of ugliness was elusive until I realised there was no dichotomy between the two.
Although I took painting for a career (prompted by my libido towards natural selection, as explained elsewhere in these diaries) literature clarified my ideas in a way that art, by it self would not have accomplished.
