Specialist note
The woman rotating a drum, on the saucer, is from a polychrome copperplate engraving by Christop Weigel, in Nürnberg, appearing as a variant in the Schulz Codex, pl. 89. This copperplate engraving also appeared in the volumes Inventions Chinoises kept at the Kupferstich-Kabinett in Dresden and available as inspiration to the Meissen artists. However, there is no proof that the engraving was in Dresden before 1738.
