A BRONZE GROUP OF THE RAPE OF A SABINE

It is probable that the present version was executed by a Northern artist looking at engravings after Giambologna's model -- rather than studying the piece directly. This would account for the slightly eccentric proportions of the figures, especially the large size of the crouching man.
