Each on spreading circular base, with tapering cylindrical stem, vase-shaped socket and detachable plain circular nozzle, with stippled borders, the bases cast and chased with a band of Vitruvian scrolls on a matted ground, the lower part of the stems applied with palmettes and palm fronds, the bases engraved with a coat-of-arms, the bases and nozzles later engraved with a baron's coronet, marked on bases and nozzles

The arms are those of Crofton quartering another and impaling another for Baroness Crofton (d.1817) of Mote, Co. Roscommon, wife of Sir Edward Crofton, 2nd Bt. (d.1797). Sir Edward had been offered a peerage shortly before his death on 30 September 1797. The honour was instead bestowed on his widow Anne, Lady Crofton, who on 1 December 1797 was created Irish suo jure peeress. (4)
