Specialist note

In a letter in late October 1912 to Sophie Brzeska, Gaudier reports that he has 'done ... a little statue of a monkey, one of a lynx, one of a puma'. The clay models for the lynx and the pumas were never cast.

A drawing of a monkey by Gaudier-Brzeska is illustrated in a book of 1913 called The Splendid Wayfaring by Gaudier-Brzeska's friend, Haldane MacFall.
