It was Breguet who first invented and patented the tourbillon in 1801, as a way of ensuring that the movement rate of pocket watches would not be affected by gravity. This present lot evinces much of the Breguet signature style - the blued steel hands, guilloche engine-turned dial, fluted case band and the chapter ring with numerals.
