Lot 2877 Audemars Piguet has a long and illustrious tradition of creating complex striking mechanisms since 1889, when the first Grande Complication model was created. Audemars Piguet also introduced innovations such as a disengaging setting to prevent the time from being set whilst the watch is striking as well as a 'Silence' setting that prevents the minute repeater from chiming inadvertently. Audemars Piguet take the view that the minute repeaters should have acoustics as fine as that of a musical instrument, and these present lots with their fine three gong Carillon chimes, fulfill these exemplary standards.
