Note du spécialiste

See the footnote for lot 112. It is unclear what the significance of the C on the reverse of this plate is; it closely resembles the C for Conditorei in the Royal KHC marks (see lot 47). For a discussion of this, and a plate with a C mark, see D. Hoffmeister, Meissener Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts, Katalog der Sammlung Hoffmeister, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg (Hamburg, 1999), Vol. I, p. 346, no. 224. Hoffmeister lists other pieces with the 'C' marks, which includes three pieces from a service sold by Sotheby's, London, on 8th July 1997, lot 57.
