Note du spécialiste

Jean Caumont, maître in 1774.

The elegant, architectural form of this bureau plat exemplifies the pared down neo-classical taste popular in the 1760s and 1770s. Often referred to as le goût grec, this style was introduced in the 1750s by the influential architect Louis-Joseph Le Lorrain.
