Specialist note
Killymoon castle was London architect John Nash's (1752-1835) first Irish project. He was commissioned by Colonel William Stewart in 1802 to rebuild the castle. Nash incorporated the original castle's Gothic chapel structure as a library comprising a crenellated sandstone structure with square towers.
