Cushion-shaped with gadroon borders, the centres engraved with coat-of-arms

The arms are those of Ulick John Burke (1802-74), First Marquess of Clanricarde, impaling Canning. (2)

Ulick Burke succeeded his father to become 14th Earl of Clanricarde in 1808. He married Harriet, daughter of Foreign Secretary George Canning (later Prime Minister) on 4th April 1825 and was advanced to a Marquessate in the Peerage of Ireland on 26 Nov 1825. Lord Clanricarde was sometime British Ambassador in St. Petersburg and filled the offices of Postmaster General and Lord Privy Seal.
