Specialist note

The present work was most probably executed by Erik Olson, possibly with the collaboration of Otto Gustav Carlsund, both favourite students of Fernand Léger's at the Académie Moderne from 1924 who also worked in Léger's studio, collaborating with him on large-scale public commissions throughout the late 1920s. Olson achieved international recognition early in his career and went on to become a co-founder of the Surrealist-influenced Swedish Halmstad group. Inspired by Léger's purism the composition of the present work is a combination of the initials 'EO', 'OGC' and even 'FL'.
