Thomas Daniell, most famous for his topographical views of India, visited Wales in 1807 with his nephew William, and a Mr. Davis. They explored the surrounding countryside for several weeks, and during this time Thomas Daniell painted the present picture among others, including a view of Lamphey Bishops Palace, near Pembroke.
