With wood handle, engraved with a coat of arms and an inscription reading Adriaan Scharff/junior/legt den eersten Steen/aan het Pakhuijs/de Drie halve/Maenen in/Amsterdam/den 17/October/Anno 1747., the reverse inscribed Wessel Scharff/Legt den eersten/Steen aan drie/Pakhuizen de/Boomspijkers/op boomsloot/Den 2de/july/1770, repair

Specialist note

The coat of arms belongs to the Dutch Scharff family. Wessel Scharff was a dealer in wine who was murdered in 1795.
