A NATURAL PEARL NECKLACE
Composed of three rows of 58, 55 and 51 slightly graduated natural pearls measuring 7.9-5.4 mm suspended from an Art Deco clasp mounted with old-cut diamonds, circa 1930
Accompanied by report No. 18807 dated 27 October 2009 from The AnchorCert Laboratory stating extensive samples were found to be natural saltwater pearls

Specialist note

These pearls were formerly the property of Mrs. Alfred Ezra née Muriel Sassoon and thence by descent.

The Sassoons made a great fortune in the 19th century through Indian, Far-Eastern and Middle-Eastern trade with England. They were one of the richest and most cultivated Jewish families, sometimes called The Rothschilds of the East. Mr and Mrs Alfred Ezra were dedicated to the breeding and keeping of rare birds at their home Foxwarren Park in Surrey and also enjoyed acquiring beautiful objects including fine jewellery
