The curved backrest and front legs in the form of a decorated yoke carved with a Russian adage in stylized script, the arms carved as axes set in logs, the solid seat inset with pine, engraved and stained an embroidered draped cloth in the pan-Slavic style with a carved and stained pair of gloves at the back, with two partly spirally fluted back legs centred by a back support in the form of a scarf-draped balalaika, with the Russian adage on the back-rest 'If you take it slowly the further you can go, the guest sews and makes people laugh. united by a turned V-stretcher, stamped on the seat with a round stamp in Cyrillic: 'Ten Years M.F 1870'
