Zhongguang is son of Xiong Shiyi (S.I. Hsiung, 1902-1991) - a playwright whose Chinese play Lady Precious Stream was highly praised when it was presented in London in 1934. An art lover and a distinguished playwright, Mr. Xiong Shiyi had many friends in art circles, including Mei Lanfang, Xu Beihong, Liu Haisu, and Lao She. Mei Lanfang provided the costumes for the play Lady Precious Stream when it was presented in New York in 1935. It is now a staple of theatre repertories and school productions around the world.
