Rectangular black tortoiseshell box with waisted sides, the cover set with a white cameo of Phillip Rundell (1746-1827) in profile to the left, within flower and scroll-chased wreath border, polished gold mounts, engraved flower and rocaille thumbpiece
3 1/8 in. (80 mm.) wide

Specialist note

The identification of the present sitter is supported by a marble bust by Edward Hodges Baily (1788-1867), dated 1838, in the National Portrait Gallery, London, NPG 6365.
