Specialist note
The doll is accompanied by a photocopied note and a letter. The note reads 'This doll was dressed by Princess May of Teck (now our queen) and sold at a bazaar by herself in the Corn Exchange in September 1885. She was the guest of the Countess of Tankerville and the Bazaar was in aid of the Bethnal Green Mission.' The letter reads 'Dear Marie [?] as you are my little joy I think I will give it to you, perhaps Mother will dress it afresh for you. With lots of kisses and a happy Xmas from you loving Aunt Mary Paston [?].'
