MARK OF JOHN COLLARD VICKERY, LONDON, 1934
Oblong, on openwork block feet, the sides with drop-ring handles, with hinged cover, the front applied with enamelled coat-of-arms, engraved inside the cover with inscription and facsimilie signatures, marked on side, cover and handles, in fitted red leather case
13 in. (33 cm.)
The arms are those of the Metropolitan Borough of Wandsworth.

The inscription reads 'This Casket was presented by the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Wandsworth to His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent K.G., K.T on the Occasion of Laying the Foundation Stone of the New Municipal Buildings at Wandsworth as a token of their Loyalty and esteem 11th June 1935'.

Specialist note

The Duke was presented with the casket by the architect of the new building Mr Edward Hunt, having been received by the Mayor of Wandsworth Evan Rees. The projected cost of the work was £150,000.
