A VICTORIAN SILVER INKSTAND
MARK OF TURNER BRADBURY, LONDON, 1891
Oblong and on four panel feet with cast palmettes, with gadrooned border and two reeded handles, with supports for the two silver-mounted cut glass bottles and a central container with detachable cover, the bottles each engraved with 'L' cypher below a marchioness' coronet, marked underneath, on bottles and bottle supports
11½ in. (29.2 cm.) wide
weighable silver 19 oz. (580 gr.)
The cypher is that of Princess Louise, Marchioness of Lorne, later Duchess of Argyll (1848-1939), fourth daughter of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) and wife of John, Marquess of Lorne, later 9th Duke of Argyll (1845-1914).
