Catalogue Notes; The unusual design of this bottle can be found in a similar piece in the National Museum in Jakarta, in the Topkapi Saray Museum in Istanbul, and in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. These bottles should have a date within the last quarter of the sixteenth century. This would be indicated by the English silver mount of the piece in the Metropolitan Museum, which may be dated c.1585.
