Specialist note
Gustave Sandoz, appointed watchmaker of the Royal French Navy, was active at the Palais Royal in Paris in 1870 and subsequently in the Rue Royale in 1900.
The distinctive shape of the movement and the pierced balance bridge are very similar to the unsigned Swiss one minute tourbillon watch with thermometer, Geneva circa 1860, described and illustrated in Das Tourbillon by Reinhard Meis, p. 123.
