Lot 116 The following seven lots, 116 - 122, represent a selection of fine timepieces made by the ingenious watchmaker François-Paul Journe. Born in Marseille in 1957, he graduated from the Paris School of Watchmaking in 1976 and immediately joined forces with his uncle, a noted restorer of antique timepieces. Before creating his own complete line of wristwatches, Journe restored some of the world's most important historical timepieces, devised and built unique pocket watches to order and designed and made complications for prestigious watch brands.
In 1996, F.P. Journe established a workshop in Geneva, designing and making watch mechanisms for other brands. Three years later, in 1999, he launched his own watches under the label "F.P. Journe Invenit et Fecit"

Specialist note
The present watch, no. 009, is the ninth example of a Chronomètre Souverain model in platinum ever made.
The Chronomètre Souverain is inspired by early 19th century marine chronometry, fitted with an ultra slim manually wound 18K pink gold movement of only 3.7 mm that beats to a frequency of 21,600 alt/hour. The two barrels, supplying a power reserve of over 50 hours, operate in parallel to provide a constant force for unequalled precision.
It is the first model in the Souverain collection to feature the brand's favorite blued hands. For the first time, the small subsidiary seconds dial is positioned to the left to 7 o'clock, while the 55-hour power reserve is placed to the right to 3 o'clock.
