Each inset overall with rosso antico, jasper, lapis lazuli, alabaster and specimen marbles, with a tall arched back between squared baluster uprights above a padded drop-in seat covered in purple velvet, on conforming legs joined by an X-stretcher

Specialist note

These specimen marble chairs are conceived in the Florentine Renaissance Revival style that was fashionable under Napoleon III and featured in the Paris Exhibition of 1867.
