Specialist note
The jolly boat, a regular ship's small attendant vessel, inspired the designs of a number of double wine trolleys in silver in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. A similar model, by John Emes, 1799, is illustrated in Michael Clayton, Christie's Pictorial History of English and American Silver, 1985, p. 233, no. 12.
