How to sell

A PAIR OF VICTORIAN SILVER-GILT MOUNTED GLASS CLARET JUGS
MARK OF G. FOX FOR C.T. & G. FOX, LONDON, 1866
Oval, engraved in the style of Joseph Keller with butterflies and ferns, the siver-gilt foot and neck mounts, scroll handles and hinged covers with foliage, marked on feet, necks and covers
12½ in. (31.8 cm.) high (2)

Specialist note

The engraving of the glass bodies was probably the work of one of the contemporary Stourbridge factories that relied on design books such as A Collection of Patterns for the Use of Glass Decorators, Designed by Joseph Keller. A similar pair of silver-mounted glass claret jugs by Fox, dated 1874, sold Sotheby's, London, 1 June 2006, lot 64.
