FRANCIS WOLLASTON'S ANNOTATED COPY. There were three issues of this work by James Hodgson, the former pupil of Flamsteed, in 1749, and a further issue in 1750. Francis Wollaston was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in April 1769 and later served on its council. 'In his private observatory at Chiselhurst, using a telescope with a triple object-glass, he described the great spot and belts of Jupiter in 1772' (ODNB).
