A PAIR OF GILTWOOD AND GILT-COMPOSITION TORCHERES
19TH CENTURY
Each with a circular Belgian granite marble top above a moulded frieze on a central fluted shaft headed and capped by acanthus, with tripartite supports incorporating lion-masks heading pilasters with scrolled acanthus at the base, above a platform with concave sides on cast-iron paw feet, the underside of each marble top inscribed 'R.COLES', regilt with traces of earlier decoration, minor variations
One torchere: 50¼ in. (128 cm.) high; the top 16½ in. (42 cm.) diameter
The other: 49¾ in. (126.5 cm.) high; the top 16½ in. (42 cm.) diameter
