A GILTWOOD OVAL MIRROR
OF GEORGE III STYLE, 19TH CENTURY
The scrolled foliate cresting hung with rockwork and with later foliate finials, above a rockwork, guilloche and cabochon oval frame wrapped with acanthus and supporting a pair of ho-ho birds
47½ x 33½ in. (121 x 85 cm.)

With Messrs John Keil, Ltd, circa 1960.

Specialist note

The pattern for this picturesque Roman-medallioned mirror with confronted exotic birds largely derives from Thomas Johnson, Collection of Designs, 1758 (pl. 10, left side; and reissued in One Hundred and Fifty New Designs, 1761, pl. 55).
