A GEORGE III MAHOGANY TEA TABLE
18TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY IRISH
The hinged rectangular top above a pierced interlaced strapwork frieze centred by a roundel, on chamfered square legs with pierced corner brackets, one bracket missing, rear gates and tops of both rear legs replaced
29¼ in. (74 cm.) high; 40 in. (102 cm.) wide; 18 in. (46 cm.) deep

Specialist note

The table has a 'cut through' fretted ribbon-guilloche with 'picturesque' cartouche framed by lozenged compartments such as featured in a 'Sideboard Table' pattern in Thomas Chippendale, The Gentleman and Cabinet-Makers Director, 1754 (pl. 59). The present fret corresponds to that of a side-table sold Christies, London, 28 November 2001, lot 189.
