Of rectangular shape, fitted with four removable containers, the breakfront sides inset with blue and polychrome-decorated scenes depicting floral bouquets and winged putti, on bun feet
3¾ in. (9.5 cm.) high; 11¼ in. (28.5 cm.) wide; 7 in. (18 cm.) deep

Specialist note

The present lot is closely related to an encrier in the Wallace Collection, London (ill. in P. Hughes, The Wallace Collection, Catalogue of Furniture, vol. II, London, 1996, p. 1044, fig 205 (F286)) and to an inkstand in the Rothschild collection at Waddesdon Manor, supplied by Simon-Philippe Poirier to Madame du Barry for the Galerie de Louveciennes (ill. in Madame Du Barry de Versailles à Louvenciennes, exh. cat., 21 March-29 June, 1992, p. 37).
