The rectangular top on square legs joined by an arched wishbone central stretcher

Specialist note

Ernest Gimson and Sidney Barnsley ensured that their furniture designs were executed to exacting standards. The design of the 'wishbone' stretcher was derived from a traditional vernacular tradition, and was employed by both craftsmen.
