Specialist note

Emma, daughter of Sir James Colebrooke (1722-1761), married Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville (1743-1822) on 7 October 1771. They lived at Chillingham Castle in Northumberland, which remained in the family until 1981. The present drawing shows the Countess of Tankerville with her two eldest daughters Caroline and Anna. Caroline married John Wrottesley (1771-1841), 1st Baron Wrottesly and lived, until her death, in Wrottesley Hall, Staffordshire. Anna married the Reverend William Beresford, son of William Beresford, 1st Baron Decies.
