With plain backplates, engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on backs and sockets, the backs stamped 'CRICHTON BROS LONDON & NEW YORK'

The arms are those of Gilbert impaling Le Poer Trench quartering Power, for Lt. Cdr. Walter Raleigh Gilbert, R.N. (d. 1977) and his wife Lady Beryl Franziska Kathleen Bianca (1893-1957), daughter of William, 5th Earl of Clancarty, (1868-1929), whom he married in 1917. Following their divorce in 1927 she married in 1931 as her third husband Francis Edward Selby Groves, of Westfield, Leasingham, Sleaford, Lincolnshire. (2)
