Vase shaped, on plinth foot, chased with leaves and engraved with shell and foliage matted band, the spigot with ivory tap, engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on base and cover, with scratchweight '119=0'
17 in. (43 cm.) high
gross weight 113 oz. (3,499 gr.)
The arms are those of Kemmes or Kemmis, possibly for Thomas Kemmis (1753-1823) of Kildare Street, Dublin, third son of Thomas Kemmis (1710-1774) of Shaen Castle, Queen's co.

Purchased by Thomas Kemmis from Messers Wakelin and Tayler in 1791.

Specialist note

The order also included a smaller coffee urn of 48 ozs. and later in October of the same year 'an octagon teapot a stand for ditto An octagon bell shaped sugar dish and ditto cream ewer' completing the service. The Ledger also records the cost of the engraving, the ivory taps or cock head, wooden chests and packing cases. It also lists the 'Duty at the Customs House' which points to the pieces being shipped perhaps to Dublin, supporting the identification as Thomas Kemmis (1753-1823) of Kildare Street, Dublin.
