Reference 6262 was introduced into the market in the late 1960s and remained in production until around 1972. Available in stainless steel, 14K and 18K gold, it was fitted with calibre 727 movement, the "non-Oyster" or "non-screw down" chronograph buttons and a blank bezel with engraved tachymetre scale. The dials featured the designations "Rolex Cosmograph" but not always the "Daytona". The so-called "exotic" Paul Newman dials also available for reference 6262 were either two-coloured white/cream and black or three-coloured, such as the present watch, with the addition of the red seconds scales.
