The shaped top with canted angles above a hinged scretaire drawer hung with husk garlands, enclosing a gilt-tooled green leather-lined writing-surface and a fitted interior with mahogany-lined drawers and pigeon holes surrounding a central panelled door enclosing four further drawers, above four short and three long graduated drawers, on later bracket feet, the handles later, the interior re-fitted, the carving added

The overall design of this secretaire follows one for a 'Lady's Secretary' published in Mayhew and Ince's The Universal System of Household Furniture, 1759-1762, plate XVIII.
