The concave buttonned padded back, arms and seat covered in grey and cream monogrammed Howard & Sons printed cotton, on ring-turned tapering legs with brass caps and castors, the underside with a cotton label printed 'HOWARD & SONS LTD.,/BY APPOINTMENT 31 OLD BURLINGTON ST., LONDON W1', the castors stamped 'HOWARD & SONS LONDON', one leg stamped '18720/1805 HOWARD & SONS LTD. BERNERS STREET'
33½ in. (85 cm.) high; 28¾ in. (73 cm.) wide; 34½ in. (87.5 cm.) deep

Almost certainly supplied to Algernon Hawkins Thomand, 9th Earl of Kintore (1852-1930) for Keith Hall, Aberdeenshire after major alterations to the house between 1900-1903.
