Max J. Friedländer (Berlin 1867-1958 Amsterdam)

Max Friedländer was one of the best-known art historians of the 20th Century whose seminal publication Early Netherlandish Painting is still considered one of the finest art historical studies of the period. Both drawings were presented to Professor Held as gifts from the family after Friedländer's death.
