Specialist note
To be sold with a copy of a certificate (2 June 1998) from Professor Klaus Ertz, in which he attributes these paintings to Jan van Kessel I (1626-1679). Mr. Fred Meijer of the RKD now believes this pair to be part of a group by an as yet unidentified hand working in the studio of Jan van Kessel the Elder, possibly to be identified as Ferdinand van Kessel (1648-after 1696).
