PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF FLORIANO VECCHI (LOTS 171-182)
Tiber Press was founded in New York in 1953 by Floriano Vecchi and Richard Miller. Specializing in screenprinting, this press produced vibrant, remarkable prints by leading Abstract Expressionist artists, including Joan Mitchell, Grace Hartigan, Alfred Leslie, and Michael Goldberg. Their most significant project was a series of four volumes published in 1960 which combined such abstract images with poems by leading members of the New York School. Other artists, such as Stuart Davis, Charles Sheeler and Ben Shahn, also worked with master-printer Vecchi to create dynamic and colorful screenprints. The following selection of prints highlight the extraordinary craftsmanship and boundless creativity that is the enduring legacy of Tiber Press.
