ATTRIBUTED TO GEORGE OAKLEY, CIRCA 1810
The circular top banded with calamander and inlaid with stars and lozenges, the frieze with four mahogany-lined drawers, one with a leather-lined slide, on a concave-sided triangular pedestal decorated with anthemion, lotus and S-scrolls, and with a beaded plinth on paw feet, one drawer inscribed to the underside in chalk 'Forbes'

Specialist note

This table corresponds closely to that supplied by Oakley for Papworth Hall in 1810. The latter was invoiced as 'A calamander wood circular loo table upon a pedestal and claws, the top inlaid with a border of stars in brass and ebony £31 10s 0d'.
